I’m a cross-stitcher and wannabe cross-stitch designer based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I also dabble in quilting, photography, drawing, painting, and other various art forms. I’ve started this blog to share my creations and connect to helpful resources.
I started cross-stitching when I was 8-years-old. I admire the elegance and versatility of the cross-stitch; I can spend weeks stitching a large, painterly picture with dozens of hues and shades, or I can stitch a simple, eye-catching motif in an evening. I dabble in other types of embroidery as well, but I always find myself returning to the elegant and useful cross-stitch.
I don’t favour any particular fabric, though I usually stitch with the usual cotton floss. Depending on the nature of the design, I will happily stitch on anything from 11-count aida to 50-count church linen. As far as designs go, my tastes run toward nature scenes, flowers, pretty houses, and old-fashioned samplers. My most-treasured cross-stitch resource is a book of patterns based on designs by William Morris. More often than not, my cross-stitch projects are meant as gifts for loved ones, but I do occasionally sneak in a project for myself.
